Abstract : This keynote philosophical presentation will define and discuss the different factors that make up engagement that forms the foundation of learning. The scene will be set by firstly presenting the role, purpose and relevance of education systems and the importance of student engagement in learning. Engagement will be conceptualized as a multidimensional construct comprising differing communal and psychological paradigms and processes.
